Local Attractions
In the heart of Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, our Park is a perfect base from which to explore this scenic part of England.
The area caters for walkers, cyclists and rail enthusiasts and the area contains many historic buildings and has spectacular countryside.
This part of Derbyshire boasts many places of interest including the palace in the peaks - Chatsworth House, Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire, Bakewell, a lovely market town and home to the famous Bakewell Pudding Shop, and the National Tramway Museum, to name but a few and all within the locality.
Historic Buildings
Derbyshire and the Peak District abound with many famous buildings which include Chatsworth House, Arkwright's famous mill in Cromford, Haddon Hall, Keddleston Hall, Calke Abbey and many more. We are ideally placed to be only a short drive away
Walkers
Search the internet and you will find many stunning walks around Wirksworth and some of our favourites include 'Wirksworth and the High Peak Trail', 'Cromford Village, Canal and High Peak Trail', 'Bonsall Village' and 'Carsington, Brassington and Harborough Rocks'.
Cyclists
Although not renowned for its flatness, Derbyshire does offer some very easy cycling tracks. Middleton Top has the High Peak Trail while Carsington Water provides another very scenic, easy ride. Cycles can be hired from visitor centres at each of these places.
Of course, the whole of Derbyshire and the Peak District awaits the more serious cyclist!
Rail Enthusiasts
In nearby Matlock, Peak Rail heritage railway, has reopened part of the line which ran from Matlock to Buxton. Just over the hill is Wirksworth which lies on the heritage Ecclesbourne Valley Railway which now runs a service between Ravenstor and Duffield. Both of these lines often run steam trains.
Crich Tramway Village is also only a short drive away
